This is awesome Tara and I loved how you put the Katniss quote in there as well! Some ways I practice gratefulness is by putting out a weekly gratitude post to people and always thanking everyone I meet and praying for them. But I love this idea of writing down the specific acts of kindness. It could really help open our minds to just how important various people in our lives are.💪💪💪💪

It's been so long since I read The Hunger Games but I really loved that final line. It's so hard to stay positive some days, but I do think remembering we're all still human and finding the more human/good parts of us is a big help in trying to keep your chin up.

There's such a dissonance happening right now where the news is so cruel and everyday we see new levels of destruction from natural disasters or the actions of the rich and powerful. And yet I don't feel like I have to go far to witness simple acts of kindness from my neighbors and the people around me.

I love this exercise because it think it helps us refocus our attention to the tangible goodness around us rather than just our internal worlds. Gratitude journaling has its place, but I also struggle with it because I don't always feel grateful when the world feels like its going to shit. But being able to notice the little, good things that people around me are doing gives me a lot of hope and inspires me to do little, good things everyday too.

This is a really beautiful sentiment Tara. No matter how hard things have gotten for everyone, most people are still largely generous and kind. I work in customer service, and often feel like a slave to the whims and demands of the customer, but many customers really go out of their way to show their appreciation for the hard work we do to make their day at least go smoothly, if not make it better. One particular customer often calls the store I work at, and whomever he speaks with, he always finds a way to sincerely compliment them and often insists they get a raise or a promotion. It's now something of an inside joke among my coworkers how we all deserve a promotion every time he calls, but it never fails to really brighten the day of the one who speaks with this man on the phone. He doesn't have to say those things, he gets nothing in return I guess except better service when we see his order, but all the same he chooses to be kind and to try to uplift us.

Thanks for reading and sharing, Nash. That’s a lovely anecdote. May we all strive to be a little bit more like that customer who calls your store. We never know just how much a little kindness can brighten someone’s day.
